Congressman Ruben Diaz?

Capitol Confidential tips us that asshat bigoted New York state Senator "Reverend" Ruben Diaz is thinking about running for Congress and is pissed off that the state hasn't settled its redistricting disputes. From a Diaz press release:
They seem to be playing games about where New York’s Congressional lines should be drawn. When those lines are finally drawn, the opportunity will be open for many people to consider running for Congress. I wish they would hurry up and appoint a federal judge to draw New York’s Congressional lines because as soon as they do, many people like myself will make up their mind to run for Congress or not. According to the census, the Bronx has gained population and I as well as many others are on the waiting list to decide what our options are. A new congressional seat in the Bronx will give many of us an opportunity to consider moving up.
Diaz' state senate district is fairly contiguous with the congressional district currently held by Rep. Joseph Crowley, a second-term Democrat who voted to repeal DADT and who twice voted against a federal marriage amendment. Crowley is a House cosponsor of the bill to repeal DOMA and the Uniting American Families Act, which seeks to end the deportation of foreign gay spouses.

Diaz better hope for that new district, because the New York Democratic machine is probably not about to let him take on Crowley. In any case, this blog will motherfucking DEVOTE itself to helping any opponent of Ruben Diaz from ANY party.

Porno Pete: Gay Bashing Is Normal

"It used to be common of course, I’ve heard many stories. I remember a story from a military guy, saying a guy came and he was a sailor and they had some temporary little day off at port and some guy hit on him and he decked him. When you make a sexual advance against a man on man, that is a normal response, and yet I fear in the rise of political correctness what’s going to happen is, somebody is going to find out that there was a man in his wife’s—his wife was in the restroom when a transgendered man, a biological male, was in the female restroom and he’s gonna punch him, but then the man who punches him is gonna be charged with a hate crime, that’s what I’m afraid of." - Peter LaBarbera, demonstrating his infamous Christian Love. Hutcherson: God Will Kill Gay People

"Do I think God brings judgment on a society that encourages homosexuality? I do. And since I am a pastor and God has commanded me to love everyone, I will do what it takes to love them. That does not mean I will accept that they stay the way they are. Unrepentant sin destroys you and will kill you. So if I believe the word of God, that He will bring judgment on a people, then I would be a very bad shepherd not to warn those people." - Pastor Ken Hutcherson, in an essay published by CNN.com.

NY Sen. Ruben Diaz On Prop 8

"The Ninth Circuit Court in California has decided to overrule Proposition 8, a ballot measure that added a provision to the California Constitution that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California”. You should know that this Ninth Circuit Court panel of unelected judges has decided that they know better than the will of more than half of California’s population. People often ask me how I cope with all of the chaos that surrounds us. I tell them that as a Christian, I am not afraid. I know that no matter whatever trials and tribulations life presents to any of us, I trust the Lord. This does not give me nor anyone else the right to sit back and do nothing." - New York Sen. Ruben Diaz, writing on this official state webpage.

RELATED: You may recall that Diaz has twice led hate marches through the streets of Manhattan in which tens of thousands of raving Hispanic evangelicals waved anti-gay placards as their religious leaders used loudspeakers to cite biblical verses calling for the executions of homosexuals.

Cardinal Edward Egan Withdraws Apology For Priest Molestation Scandals

Cardinal Edward Egan has withdrawn his apology for the child molestation scandals that were exposed when he was the Archbishop of New York. That 2002 letter of apology was read to all of the congregations under his control.
A decade after that letter, the former archbishop of New York, and former bishop of Bridgeport, now describes the handling of the priest-abuse crisis under his watch as “incredibly good.” He said of the letter, "I never should have said that,” and added, “I don’t think we did anything wrong.” “I never had one of these sex abuse cases.” he said, before adding pompously, “If you have another bishop in the United States who has the record I have, I’d be happy to know who he is.”

He also claimed that the Church had no obligation to report abuse to the civil authorities. These are lies, strutting around with pride. The Church is required to report abuse, according to laws on the books since the 1970s. Bishop Egan ran a diocese that was notoriously dangerous for children. Contrary to his claim, during his twelve-year enthronement at Bridgeport, Egan repeatedly failed to investigate priests where there were obvious signs of abuse, according to The Hartford Courant. His diocese had to settle the cases and awarded victims some $12-15 million in damages.
In 2009 Egan was succeeded by Archbishop Timothy Dolan, who himself is about to be elevated to Cardinal. Like Dolan, he is a vocal opponent of LGBT rights.

Tony Perkins: We're Being Oppressed!

"This ruling substitutes judicial tyranny for the will of the people, who in the majority of states have amended their constitutions, as California did, to preserve marriage as the union of one man and one woman. However, we remain confident that in the end, the Supreme Court will reject the absurd argument that the authors of our Constitution created or even implied a 'right' to homosexual 'marriage,' and will instead uphold the right of the people to govern themselves. Voters in 31 states have voted to uphold the historic and natural definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Twenty-nine, a majority of American states, have actually inserted such a definition into the text of their state constitutions." - Tony Perkins, head of the Fascist Research Council.

Christianist Bullies Attack Rolling Stone

The Christianists who want it to be legal for their children to assault and harass LGBT kids have now focused their ire on Rolling Stone, who last week published a lengthy expose of a Minnesota school system.

According to Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute, teachers should not be allowed to intervene when gay children are being beaten:

Teachers are employees of the government. In that role, they have no right to affirm controversial moral beliefs, even if they believe that doing so will reduce the incidence of bullying. There are ways to curb bullying without affirming controversial, non-factual moral (or political assumptions). Schools must ensure that teachers not exploit their government-subsidized employment to engage in moral or political philosophizing. To prevent the kind of ideological propagandizing in which homosexual activists and their allies seek to engage in the classroom, policy must explicitly prohibit teachers from expressing their personal views on controversial issues.

I Love A Parade

"They parade their sin like Sodom. And they do it under the rainbow banner almost as if they're saying 'God, you can do nothing to us' because they don't believe that Sodom was destroyed because of homosexuality so they aren't learning the lesson from that. In fifty years we have seen this tiny group of people - they really only represent about two percent of the population - that has grown from being a reviled subculture to now having more power in the legislatures and courtrooms of the world than the Christian church does. In fifty years!

"Nothing has ever grown that fast globally, nothing. Not Islam, not Darwinism, not Marxism, nothing has ever grown that fast. Which shows you that this is a spiritual phenomenon that is unparallelled and that's why God has selected it, singled out this particular behavior to be the indicator of extreme apostasy, the furthest edge of deviance and the warning sign that things are in really, really bad shape." - Hate group leader Scott Lively, speaking to a Sacramento church. From The Red-Caped Catholic Loons

The red-caped Catholic loons of Tradition, Values & Property were at the anti-gay hate rally outside of Maryland's Capitol. This is their clip. Watch this and try not to think about Kristallnacht. Terrifying.
