Whitney Houston Found Dead At Age 48

Little is known so far.
Whitney Houston, who ruled as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48. Houston's publicist, Kristen Foster, said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown. News of Houston's death came on the eve of music's biggest night — the Grammy Awards. It's a showcase where she once reigned, and her death was sure to case a heavy pall on Sunday's ceremony. Houston's longtime mentor Clive Davis was to hold his annual concert and dinner Saturday; it was unclear if it was going to go forward.
Shocking. But also, not so shocking.

VIDEO: My favorite of many great ones.

UPDATE: The only time I saw Whitney in concert was at NYC Pride's 1999 Pier Dance. I'll never forget the crowd's reaction.

Don Cornelius Commits Suicide

What a shocker. Soul Train creator Don Cornelius has apparently committed suicide at the age of 75. Here's what little is known so far.
"Soul Train" creator Don Cornelius was found dead at his Sherman Oaks on home Wednesday morning. Law enforcement sources said police arrived at Cornelius' home around 4 a.m. He apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the case was ongoing. The sources said there was no sign of foul play, but the Los Angeles Police Department was investigating.
"As always in parting, we wish you love, peace, and soul."

Here's a recent interview.
