NH Haters Rally For Marriage Repeal
The governor has vowed to veto it, polls show the public is against it, and the local GOP doesn't seem to even want it on their schedule. But that didn't stop Christian hate groups from rallying yesterday to pressure the bill's advance.
State Rep. David Bates, a Windham Republican, told the crowd there is no truth more self-evident under the federal Constitution than men and women were created for each other. "Other arrangements are unnatural and incapable of sustaining the human species," he said. The rally was to support Bates' bill to repeal the law. No date has been scheduled for a House vote. Republican House Speaker William O'Brien called the gay marriage law an attack on the family that must be reversed. While O'Brien and other were speaking, Concord resident Marcia Blackman at the back of the crowd yelled: "Why do you hate me? Why do you hate my family?" O'Brien ignored the outburst and spoke louder into the microphone. "We must vote to back marriage for our children," he said.Video via Think Progress.

Is Marriage Repeal Dead In NH?
The New Hampshire House GOP has released their agenda for the rest of the year and guess what is missing?
Republican House Leader Rep. D.J. Bettencourt of Salem said Thursday the House was focusing on economic and education reforms that would bring job creators to New Hampshire and put citizens back to work. Hot-button social issues like gun rights, immigration and labor reform were all absent from the agenda, but the biggest hole was left by gay marriage, which is the target of several bills aiming to repeal it. Republicans also said in 2011 they were putting off social issues to focus on strengthening the state's economic footing. This isn't a dead deal for sure, but I'm betting the governor's vow to veto did it in.
